So I know this has absolutely nothing to do with my project but I thought it was an interesting concept in sustainable energy.

I’ve been modeling an existing reel for my design to enhance.

This was my intial idea, the strap you put your hand through, to be called the rod saver.  It can be attached at different point on the rod.

These are the studies I’ve done based on measurments taken from Henry Dreyfuss’s Designing for Man and Woman.  It’s interesting to me when forms emerge from within a block of material.  I’ve been focusing on how these handles will attach to the existing handle and keep a tight fit.  The design should be removable which I have considered to be threaded.

The boat can be an important factor in catching fish, especially the big ones.  Most people that own a boat always say they want a bigger one.  It makes sense because the more room you have to move around the better.  Sometimes the big boats are still too small for both people and fish.  Different boats are taylored for different occasions.  Having the right boat makes a big difference in the safety and pleasure in fishing.  For instance, a flat bottom boat is great for trolling and running but you don’t want to sit still in it when the waves are rocking.  Older boats used to have what is called a “Dead Rise” for the bow (front).  It helped block the sea spray from the incoming waves and cut through the water.  A V-hull boat is a more common boat today usually made of fiberglass or aluminum.  These wonderful materials greatly improve the weight of a boat and allow it handle more weight.  Old wooden boats are heavy and require a lot of maintaining.
